IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Clay
Mattison
December 25, 1980 – July 7, 2025
Clay Mattison
Stephen Clayton "Clay" Mattison, age 44, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 7, 2025, at his home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Clay was born on December 25, 1980, in Sikeston, Missouri - a true Christmas gift to Steve Mattison and Phyllis Clayton Mattison. He spent most of his life in Sikeston, where he became a man of Christian faith and built deep connections with family, friends, and co-workers.
Clay loved sports from an early age and was known in his younger years for throwing a mean fastball. That passion for sports never faded - he especially enjoyed cheering on his hometown Sikeston Bulldogs and the Mizzou Tigers. Whether it was football or basketball, he rarely missed watching a game.
He is survived by his mother, Phyllis Mattison of Cape Girardeau; his brother, Dustin (Christina) Mattison of Cape Girardeau; and his cherished niece and nephews, Anna, Zac, and Ben. Clay also shared a close bond with Houston Graham and his two children, Weston and Sadie, who lovingly called him "Clay Pa."
Clay was preceded in death by his father, Steve Mattison, and his younger brother, Tyler Mattison, whom he loved deeply and missed fiercely every day.
A celebration of Clay's life will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston. Visitation will begin at 4:00 p.m., with a service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Chad Bles will officiate. In honor of Clay's Bulldog pride, the family invites guests to wear Sikeston colors or their favorite Bulldog attire.
A private burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Sikeston at a later date.
McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
