Obituary
CLIFTON H. 'BUTCH' COSSEY, SR., age 84, a resident of Wyatt, MO, died Sunday, March 15, 2015, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
Born February 14, 1931, at Dardanelle, AR, to the late Thomas Hobert "T.H." Cossey and Edith Adell Hicks Cossey, he had lived in Wyatt most of his life where he was a member of the Wyatt Baptist Church. He was employed with the Operating Engineers #513B at Cape Girardeau a number of years until his retirement. He then attended and graduated from the SEMO Police Academy and became employed with the Mississippi County Sheriff's Department as a deputy. He was a member of the Charleston Masonic Lodge No. 407 AF & AM. and was a U.S. Army Veteran.
On November 13, 1949, he married Joyce June Prayor, who preceded him in death on November 29, 1992.
Surviving are one son and daughter in law, Cliff and Eva Cossey of Wyatt, MO; two daughters and one son in law, Cathy and Don Skinner of Kevil, KY and Julia "Lori" Cossey of Wyatt; two brothers, Charles "Sonny" (Jo Ann) Cossey of Fredericktown, MO; Perry (Patti) Cossey of Mechanicsburg, OH; three sisters, Shirley James of Chicago, IL; Linda (Jimmy) Graham and Mary Lou Cossey of Wyatt; five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.
Besides his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Joshua Briar Housman; one brother James Harlan Cossey and three sisters, Jacqueline Hack, Patsy Ann Cossey and Catherine Lucille Cossey.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, March 19, 2015, at the McMikle Funeral Home. Rev. Tom Bridges of Bertrand, will officiate. Masonic rites will be conducted by the Charleston Masonic Lodge 407 AF & AM immediately following.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Ray Skinner, Jr., Jason Skinner, Tracy Cossey, Chris LaCross, Mike Ware and Houston Housman.
