Obituary

WANDA COLLEEN OAKLEY, age 82, a resident of Wyatt died at 1:15 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 at the Charleston Manor.

She was born December 21, 1927 in Holland, MO to the late C.F. and Lula Cerrigan Tompkins.
On May 10, 1944 she married Marion Oakley and they moved to Wyatt in 1956 to assume the operation of his family's business, Oakley's Market. In addition to being co-owner and operator of Oakley's Market, she served as Wyatt's city clerk; was a leader for Cub Scout and Girl Scout troops, very active in PTA (parent-teacher association), a member of the former Charleston Business and Professional Women's Club, loved to travel and was of Baptist belief. She lovingly earned the title "Best Fan Ever" for her enthusiastic support of family participation in many extracurricular activities, and wittingly had each of her children believing they were her "special one" until they realized they all fell into that category.

Surviving are her husband Marion Oakley of Wyatt; two sons and daughters in law, Steven Wayne and Linda Oakley of Sikeston and Stanley Walter and Susan Lea Oakley of Scott City; two daughters and sons in law, Marian Colena "Sissy" and Jim Presson of Charleston and Sandra Kay and Daniel Lee Johnson of Wyatt; 13 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, and one great-great granddaughter.

Four brothers and four sisters preceded her in death.

Friends may call after 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2009, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, January 21, 2009. Rev. David Cullen, pastor of the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
