Obituary

Connie Loucille Lovett Babb, age 75, a resident of rural Bertrand, died Monday, March 24, 2025, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

Born November 22, 1949, at Cairo, IL, to the late Roy James Lovett and Effie Lucille Pobst Lovett, she was a 1967 graduate of Kelly High School.  Shortly after high school, Connie embarked on a lifelong career in banking with First Security Bank in Charleston that later became Focus Bank.  She would retire as a vice president with over 50 years of service at the same location.   Connie loved her family and especially loved her nephews and nieces and always looked forward to spending time with them.  She was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston.

On November 30, 1996, Connie would marry the love of her life, Woodrow Samuel "Sam" Babb, who would precede her in death July 30, 2019.

Surviving is her brother, Jim (Taryn) Lovett of Charleston; their children, Trevor (Dawn) Lovett, Stosh (Ellen) Lovett and Luke Lovett; her niece, Robyn (Chris) Brown; her sister in law, Carol Babb Draffen; niece in law, Carla Taylor and a number of great nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Mary Lou Taylor, brother in law, Michael Taylor, Sr., her nephew, Mike Taylor, Jr. and niece, Susan Taylor.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 28, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Rev. Joe Mooney, pastor of the First Christian Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

In lieu of flowers, plants and gift items, the family kindly requests memorials be made to First Christian Church, 109 S. Virginia Street, Charleston, MO 63834 or to The Lutheran Home, 2825 Bloomfield Road, Cape Girardeau, 63703.
