Obituary
CONNIE JEAN COOK GROVES, age 76, a resident of Sikeston, died Saturday, January 28, 2017, at South Hampton Nursing Home in Columbia.
She was born March 20, 1940, in Charleston, to Raymond Cook and Halleen Choate Shaw who preceded her in death. She moved to Sikeston in the late 1960's where she lived until moving to Columbia in 1978. She worked as a custodian at the University of MO for 21 years and returned to Sikeston in 2001.
On May 25, 1956, she married Robert Ellis Groves Sr., who preceded her in death on December 17, 1993.
Surviving are three children, Robert Ellis "Buddy" Groves of Sikeston, Jerry Ray (Barb) Groves of Centralia and Letta Jean Schnell of Columbia; two sisters, Dorothy Burton of Sikeston and Cathy (Steve) Yoakum of Columbia; seven grandchildren, Amy Groves, Elizabeth Willhamson, Ashley Groves, Devon Moser, Donovan Moser, Randall Schnell, Rebecca Riffle; and four great grandchildren, Sailee Groves, Matthew Willhamson, Wyatt Riffle and Landon Riffle.
One sister, Jeannette Blain, preceded her in death.
Visitation will be held at the McMikle Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 1, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Michael Yoakum of Columbia will serve as Eulogist.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Steve Yoakum, Jeffrey Yoakum, Michael Yoakum, Randall Schnell, Jerry Groves, and Patrick Durham.
