Obituary

CORA LEE McMINN, age 93, a resident of Charleston died Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at the Charleston Manor.

She was born January 5, 1920 in the community of Bayouville in New Madrid County to the late George and Flora Ann Duffey Schneider. Following her graduation from East Prairie High School in 1938 she was employed with Boyce Implement Company in East Prairie. A veteran of WW II, she served with the U.S. Coast Guard from 1943 – 1945. Upon her service discharge she returned to Mississippi County where she worked as a caregiver prior to accepting a position with the Division of Family Services where she worked until her retirement in March, 1985. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Charleston, the Charleston Business and Professional Women's Club, and the Athena Club. She was the Southeast Missouri representative for the Area Agency on Aging. She also served on the board of the Senior Citizens Advisory Council.

On July 15, 1950 she married John E. McMinn Jr. who survives of the home.

Also surviving are one son, John McMinn of Charleston, two daughters, Georgia Gremillion and Janet (Bruce) DeField all of Charleston; one sister, Fern Cobb of Sikeston; six grandchildren, Beth Ann Bond, Justin Gremillion, Ben Gremillion, Andrew DeField, Jarrett Bond, and Allison DeField; two great grandchildren, Marco and Mack Gremillion, and two special caregivers, Ginger and Martini.

She was preceded in death by one son, William Eric Bond; three brothers, Paul F. Schneider, Leroy Schneider and Howard Schneider and by three sisters, Marie Greer, Margie Hopgood and Earline Stephens.

Visitation will be held at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston on Friday, March 1, 2013, from 11:00 a.m. until the service hour at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Jim Malugen, pastor of the First Christian Church in Charleston, and Mike Grimes of Charleston will officiate.

Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Graveside Rites at the IOOF Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Justin Gremillion, Ben Gremillion, Jarrett Bond, Andrew DeField, Sam Babb, Mike Grimes, and Dylan Smith.
