CORA MARIE SIMPSON, age 90, of Poplar Bluff, formerly of Sikeston and Charleston, died Tuesday, May 4, 2021, at the Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Born July 13, 1930, at Alexander County, IL, to the late Thomas Jefferson Allensworth and Lydia Russell Allensworth, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she was employed as a cook for many years at Warren E. Hearnes Elementary School. She had attended the Cornerstone Church in Bertrand in years past before moving to Sikeston and then to Poplar Bluff.
On October 15, 1982, she married William Howard Simpson, who preceded her in death on August 15, 1993.
Surviving are her children, Darrell Ray (Brenda) Stallings of Charleston; Sharon (Fred) Bruenderman of Sikeston and Patricia Ann (Rodney) Scudder of Poplar Bluff; 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Terry Joe Stallings, Herbert Dennis Stallings and two infant sons, as well as her brother, Leland Eugene Allensworth and her sisters, Ruby Crosier and Janette Riley.
Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 6, 2021, at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston. Mike McKinney, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church of Charleston, will officiate.
Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
