Cowboy Edwards
James Doyle “Cowboy” Edwards, age 89, of Sikeston, MO, died Sunday, May 31, 2026, at the New Madrid Living Center in New Madrid, MO.
Born July 1, 1936, at Catron, MO, to the late Aaron Edwards and Helen Morgan Edwards, he had lived in Sikeston most of his life where he was employed as an appliance repairman with Lewis Furniture Company for over 50 years. For over 30 years, he and his wife, Mable, ran “The Bargain Barn” in Sikeston. He was a member of the former Calvary Temple Church in Sikeston.
On June 15, 1975, he married Mable Sterling, and she preceded him in death September 24, 2016.
Surviving are his children, Ellen Jane (Bobby) Owens of Jackson, MO; Doyle Dewayne Edwards of Cape Girardeau, MO and Loriann (Jimmy) Wimberley of Sikeston, MO; his sisters, Maxine Kinsey and Merle (Ray) Baker; 12 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Kay Scott; his grandson, DeWayne Rinehart; his granddaughter, Brandy Michelle Wimberley; his brothers, Ed Edwards, J.B. Edwards, Roy Gene Edwards and his sister, Marge Rudd.
Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until the funeral hour at 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2026, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
Interment will follow at a later date at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
