Obituary

Curtis Finley Butcher, 84, formerly of Sikeston, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born August 25, 1929 in Loyston, Tn. to the late Theodore and Linda Jane (Day) Butcher. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he was a metal finisher for National Lock in Rockford, Il and in 1972 transferred with National Lock to Sikeston. In 1986 he formed B & H Metal Finishing in Advance. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge at Cherry Valley, IL and was a member of Sikeston Country Club and was an avid golfer & fisherman. He was married to Martha L. Drane Jan 20, 1951 in Rockford and she survives of the home in Jacksonville. One son, Stephen C. Butcher also survives of Sikeston; two grandchildren, Stephen C. Butcher, Jr. of Sikeston and Aimee (Eric) Kimball and 1 great-grandson, Garrett Curtis Kimball of Jacksonville also survive. Other survivors include 1 brother, James B. Butcher of Rockford, IL and 1 sister, Wanda Mattie of Sarasota, FL. He was preceded in death by 1 son, Douglas Ray Butcher in 1975, 1 daughter-in-law, Beth Butcher in 2007 and by 2 sisters. Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 4:30 pm Friday until time for services at 6:00 pm. J. Mark Wilson, his nephew from Nashville will officiate. Committal service will be at 1:30 pm (2:30 Eastern Daylight Savings) Saturday at the Woodlawn Cemetery at LaFollette, TN. Online condolences may be sent to the family at blanchardfuneral.com.
