Obituary

Dale Ashley Betts, 56, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away on February 15, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on September 9, 1967, in Charleston, Missouri, to his parents Jimmie and Rosie Priscilla McAllister Betts.

Dale graduated in 1985 from Charleston High School in Charleston, Missouri. He earned his bachelor's degree in management from Purdue University in 1990. He worked in management for several years before obtaining his master's degree in education from Indiana University in Bloomington in the year 2000. He worked as a job coach as well as an elementary school teacher for over 24 years. Dale had many hobbies including reading, shopping, and spending time with his family and friends. He was known for his extensive vocabulary, at times his unique dialect, and his impeccable style. He had a special affinity for cars and enjoyed travel both domestically and internationally.

Dale was a man of faith and an ambassador of Christ. He received the gift of the Holy Ghost at Greater Mt. Zion Tabernacle under the leadership of the late Bishop Aaron L. Boyd of Logansport, Indiana. He was also an active member of LifeJourney Church in Indianapolis, Indiana, for more than 20 years. Besides his hobbies, tremendous sense of humor, and unmatched poise, he took great pride in living in a way that honored the Lord and presented with ripe spiritual fruits.

Dale is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Herbert. He leaves to cherish his memory his 10 siblings: Flora (John) Clemons, Cape Girardeau, Mo., Marilyn Fields of Kansas City Ks., Prisus Betts, Mary (Tom) Bates of Logansport In., Donald Betts of Mn., Dinita (Rex) Grady of Walton, In., James Betts and Sherman Betts both of Cape Girardeau Mo., Gloria (Darian) Hayes of Warrenton, Va., Bruce (Sharon) Betts of Jackson Mo., a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, an uncle, and other relatives and close friends.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO.

Dale will be laid to rest next to his parents at the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston, MO.
