Obituary
DALLAS RAY OWENS, Age 74, died Wednesday, December 29, 2010 at his residence in the Eastside Hunting Lodge in Villa Ridge, IL.
Born April 27, 1936 at Malden, MO to the late A.E. and Pauline Qualls Owens, he was a member of the Coast Guard Reserve. He was owner and operator of the Dallas Owens farm and had farmed his entire life, first in Mississippi County, MO and then in Villa Ridge, IL until his retirement. He was currently the manager of the Eastside Hunting Club at Villa Ridge, IL. He was an avid sportsman with a love of hunting, fishing and guiding hunts for his lodge. He was of the Baptist Faith and was a member of the Elks Lodge in Mounds, IL.
On April 30, 1955, he married Betty Loflin, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are: one son, Keith Owens of Paducah, KY; two daughters and sons in law, Vicki and Monte Penney of Murray, KY and Carolyn and Chuck Elrod of Cleveland, TN; two brothers, Edward Owens of Olive Branch, IL and William "Bill" Owens of Charleston, MO; four grandsons, Brian Morgan of Villa Ridge, IL; Dallas Elrod of Cleveland, TN, Brian Penney of Lexington, KY, and Charlie Elrod of Cleveland, TN; one granddaughter, Melissa Elrod of Cleveland, TN, and one special great granddaughter, Rebecca Morgan of Villa Ridge, IL, who shared his love of hunting.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Bonnie Owens Morgan, and one sister, Phyllis Bright.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Sunday, January 2, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston, MO where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 3, 2010 with Rev. Gary Vacca, Pastor of the Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Murray, KY, officiating
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Rusty Dakin, Chad Seiler, Michael Vujovich, Dallas Elrod, Bruce Wilson, Lewis Potts, Andy French, and John Keisler.
