Dan Haney, age 89, of Charleston, died Friday, August 5, 2022, at the Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born November 3, 1933, in Mississippi County, MO, to the late Oliver Haney and Gladys Hockersmith Haney.  Dan had lived in Mississippi County his entire life and was employed with the Delta Growers Association a number of years until his retirement.  He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Marines.

On September 11, 1954, he married Rachel Slaughter who preceded him in death on September 24, 2009.

Surviving are his grandchildren, Rachel Haney Barker, Lee Ann Rapert, Dan (Brandy) Haney, Rick (Stacey) Haney and John (Rachel) Haney; seven great grandchildren; his brothers, Ronnie Haney and Terry Bruce McLain and his sister, Mary Bell Clayton; as well as a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sons, John Randall Haney and Michael Alexander Haney; his brothers, Paul Haney, David Haney, Herbert Haney, Ray Haney, Donnie Haney and Cecil Haney and his sister, Doris Lynch.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Graveside services with full military honors will follow at 1:30 p.m. at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery.   Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be: Bill Haney, Mitch Clark, Richard Haney, Darren Haney, Charles Kirby and Jim Abner.
