Dannel Marie King, age 56, died, Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia, MO.
Born September 8, 1969, at Fort Worth, TX to Donnie Gene King and Marie Wood King, she was a 1987 graduate of Sikeston High School and went on to study interior design at the Stevens Institute of Business and Arts in St. Louis, MO. Dannel was a natural born salesperson, like her dad. She lived in Atlanta, GA, San Francisco, CA, Las Vegas, NV and then moved back to Missouri, always looking for a “live spot!”
Dannel loved to garden, loved hockey and the St. Louis Blues and was especially fond of all her Animals. They were her babies. Having lived in Columbia for the past ten years, the past four of those years she was an attentive caretaker of her mother.
Surviving is her father and stepmother, Donnie Gene and Brenda Kay King of Sikeston; her mother, Marie Wood King of Bertrand, MO; her brother, Donovan Eric King of Sikeston; her sister, Melissa Morris of Sikeston; her nephews, Dawson Eric King of Sikeston and Matt (Amanda) Boes of Springfield, MO; her nieces, Lauren (Matt) Malloy of Essex and Elissa Boes of Cape Girardeau; her very close and special friend since they were in the third grade, Wendy James and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Allen King.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 p.m. until time for the memorial service at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 17, 2026, at the Trinity Gospel Church, 901 Davis Blvd., Sikeston, MO.
A private family interment will follow at the family farm in St. James. Mo.
McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
