Danny Thomas was born October 26, 1959 in Charleston, the son of the late Queen Ester Epps Thomas and Henry Thomas. He comes from a family of thirteen children, five girls and seven boys.
Danny graduated from Charleston High School – Class of 1977, and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy. He had a talent in doing handy man work indoors, plumbing repairs, car maintenance, and working on two- cylinder engines.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, barbequing, and was physically activity staying in shape. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need.
Danny retired from the Mississippi County Highway Department after serving over 30 years. On February 23, 2026, Danny peacefully passed away at the age of 66 years old.
He is survived by one son, Dantrell Thomas of Springfield, MO; a niece whom he raised, Chedowrian Smith; his siblings, Annie Bell of Charleston, MO Angela Thomas and Danita Tony Wallace of Sikeston, MO, Henry Thomas of St. Louis, MO, Dennis Thomas and John Thomas of Charleston, and Aaron Thomas, and Eric (Aretha) Thomas, all of Sikeston, MO; a special uncle, Willie Earl Epps, special friend, Henry Williams, a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Kimberly Thomas, Gwendelyn Thomas-Scott, Brett Thomas, and Sylvester Epps; and a best friend, Michael Parker.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Charleston, MO.
Interment with full military honors will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
