DAVID PITTMAN COLVETT, age 63, a resident of Bertrand, died Saturday, May 7, 2016, at the Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Born November 17, 1952 in Alamo, TN, to the late Horace Clinton and Virginia Pittman Colvett, he had lived in the Alamo and Jackson, TN areas most of his life. He graduated with an Associate of Arts from Freed-Hardeman University and later with a Bachelor of Science in Communication from Murray State University. Dave started out with a career in radio and broadcasting, and had also been a volunteer fireman in Crockett and Madison counties in TN. In 2006, he moved with his family to Bertrand and was employed with the SEMO Electric Cooperative in Sikeston. He attended the Church of Christ at Asherville, MO and was an avid HAM Radio Operator.
On September 12, 1987, he married Karen Lynn Stockman, who survives of the home.
Also surviving is one daughter, Grace Elizabeth Colvett of the home; one sister and brother-in-law, Sara and Frank Moore of Alamo, TN; his mother-in-law, Betty Jean Cheatham Stockman of Sikeston; his brother-in-law, Alan (Lisa) Stockman of Mt. Vernon, IL; his sisters-in-law, Susan (Roy) Northern of Farmington, MO and Laura Stockman of Sikeston; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his father in law, Terry Bruce Stockman.
Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. until the funeral hour at 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 at the Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston. Jimmy Colvett will officiate.
Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Roy Northern, Keith Cheatham, Gary Tuck, Chuck Lovelace, Heath Poindexter, John Wallace, James Price and Steve Turnbow.
Dave never met a stranger and was a friend to all. He will be greatly missed.
