David J. Dixon, affectionately known by many as "Beanie", passed away Monday, April 21, 2025, at his home in Charleston at the age of 76.

Born August 30, 1949, in Mississippi County, MO, to the late Olie and Eather Scott Dixon, he lived in Charleston, MO most of his life and was respected and employed by local farmers until 1984, when he started working for MoDot for 14 years as well as farming independently. Davd was no stranger to hard work, so after his retirement from MoDot and farming, he started DD and J Lawn Care which he operated until 2022.

On April 15, 1976, he married Doris Jean Farmer, who preceded him in death on March 2, 2019. Through this union he inherited three daughters and together they added to their family two sons and two additional daughters.

Surviving are his children, David (Renetta) Dixon of Centerville, MS, Donald (Linda) Dixon, Dawanda Dixon, Jetta Dixon, Glenda Wilson, Victoria Hemphill and Benita Coopwood all of Charleston; 26 grandchildren and a number of great grandchildren; his siblings, Clara (Joe) Griffin of Benton Harbor, MI, Mary Davis of Detroit, MI, James Dixon of Cape Girardeau, MO and Frances (Clifford) Hines of Charleston, MO; also, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Michael Sharp; brothers, Elbert Dixon, Gilbert Dixon, William Dixon and Paul Dixon and his sisters, Recie Mae Dixon and Burnetia Bradley.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at noon, Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.
