DEBBIE GRISSOM SELF, age 64, died Friday, May 10. 2019, at her home in East Prairie.

Born February 3, 1954, at East Prairie, to the late Charles "Gunner" Grissom and Jessie Franklin "Frankie" Atkinson Grissom, she had lived in Mississippi County her entire life, was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Eagles in East Prairie and had attended Blessed Assurance Church in East Prairie. The fourth of ten children, she was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and loved to go fishing and attend concerts.

On September 28, 1970, she married Rodger Charles Self, who preceded her in death January 12, 2009.

Surviving is her daughter and son in law, Katy and Johnny Layton of Charleston; her grandsons, Ethan John Layton and Jacob Edward Layton of Charleston; her brothers, Roland Grissom and Wesley Grissom of East Prairie and Mike Grissom of Anniston; her sisters, Martha Aters, Ruth Christian and Penny Pearson all of East Prairie, Linda Dillow of Scott City and Rhonda Ling of Kewanee; also a number of nieces, nephews and cousins survive.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Charles Grissom.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, June 1, 2019, at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Charleston.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
