Obituary

DENALE CARVER 'DINKY' HESS, Age 82, a resident of Charleston, died Monday, April 29, 2013 at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

Born November 4, 1930, at Piggott, Arkansas, to the late Haskell and Estal Holifield Carver, she had lived in Charleston her entire life where she had been employed with the Charleston R-1 School District for 32 years until her retirement in 2009. She was a member of the Charleston Country Club and the United Methodist Church of Charleston.

She was married to Tommy Hess, who preceded her in death in December of 1976.

Survivors include: two sons and daughters in law, Rick and Ginny Hess of Battlefield, MO and Gary and Jill Hess of Charleston; two daughters and sons in law, Robin and Larry Smith of Charleston and Jennifer and Tim Moore of Murfreesboro, TN; two brothers and one sister in law, C.B. Carver of Blytheville, AR and LeRoy (Bud) and Tommye Carver of Tupelo, MS; one sister, Lenora Sitzes of Charleston; her grandchildren, Ivan Hess of Springfield, MO; Lee Hess and his fiancé, Angie Starr of O'Fallon, MO; Clint Hess of Charleston; Lauren and Blake DeWitt of Sikeston; Jarryd Smith of Charleston; Lindsay Kate Moore and Luke Parker Moore of Murfreesboro, TN; Evan Hess of North Beach, MD and Tradd Hess of Cape Girardeau, MO.

Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until time for the funeral service at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. The Rev. Dan Faust, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate. A eulogy will be offered by her grandson, Ivan Hess.

Private family interment will be held Thursday, May 2, 2013 at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston.

Honorary pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Ivan Hess, Lee Hess, Clint Hess, Lauren DeWitt, Jarryd Smith, Lindsay Kate Moore, Luke Parker Moore, Evan Hess and Tradd Hess.
