Obituary

Shirley Diane Hall, known throughout the community as "Mamaw" Hall, age 85, entered into rest on July 21, 2021 surrounded by her family and loved ones in her daughter's home at 1102 East Commercial in Charleston.

Born August 30, 1935 to Freeman DeWayne and Ozella Bellah Poyner in Success AR where she lived until the family moved to the Bridges Community near Charleston in 1949.

In 1951 She married Francis Marion (Jim) Hall who preceded her in death.

She is survived by her children and spouses; James (Brenda) Hall of Sikeston, Gregory Poyner (Lisa Hillhouse) Hall of Charleston, Jonathan Wade (Sandy) Hall of Bertrand, Tammy Hall (Don) Taylor of Bertrand, Shelly Hall (Jeff) Parton of Haines City, FL, Jeffrey Francis (Johnna) Hall of Charleston, DeDe Hall (Ralph) Bell of Charleston; also 14 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.

The eldest of eight siblings, she is survived by two brothers, Freeman DeWayne Poyner of East Prairie and James Douglas Poyner of Hayti; one stepbrother, Don (Carol) Bellah of Sikeston; two sisters, Barbara Poyner Breithaupt of Vidalia, LA and Glenda (Eddie) Poyner Shankle of Bertrand.

Preceding her in death were two sisters, Arita Poyner Helt of St. Louis, Melvita Poyner Gipson of Truman AR; one brother, Gary Lynn Poyner of Scott City; and two step sisters, Mary Lou Cox of Charleston and Betty Martin of Bertrand.

Diane attended Southside Baptist Church in Charleston where she enjoyed many years of fellowship with her friends and church family.

She loved and served her community through volunteering for the Kenny Rogers Cerebral Palsy Center, the American Cancer Society, and serving as an Election Judge during many Mississippi County Elections. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Fraternal Eagles Organization, an avid gardener, bird lover and spent many hours decorating her home and yard for all holidays.  She specifically loved the Dogwood Azalea Festival and meeting her many friends daily at Boomland for coffee.  Her passion in life was serving and providing for her many friends, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved cooking and was well known for her chocolate gravy. She will be loved and missed by all.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 am until the funeral hour at 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 24, 2021, at the Southside Baptist Church, located at the corner of Tom Brown and School Streets in Charleston.  Rev. Ted Wimberley of Charleston will officiate.

Interment will follow in the IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jamie Hall, Todd Hall, Chris Hall, Timmy Taylor, Jeffrey Hall Jr., Derek Hall, Jonathan Hall, Clay Parton, Kyle Kemp and Drew Kemp.
