DOLPH WEBB JR., age 83, formerly a resident of Charleston, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at the Heartland Medical Center in Marion, IL.
Born April 13, 1928 in Marion, IL to the late C. Dolph and Bessie May Bennett Webb, he enlisted in the US Army in 1946 and was honorably discharged after 20 years of service in 1966. Later in 1966 he moved to Southeast Missouri working in law enforcement until his retirement having served as the Chief of Police in Charleston, East Prairie, and Sikeston. He was a member of the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston.
On December 23, 1963 he married Geneva Faye Pemberton who preceded him in death October 12, 2002.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, David Allen and Teresa Davis of Princeton, NC, and Tommie Gene and Joyce Davis of Belle Rive, IL; one daughter, Diana L. Creek of Kansas City, MO ; 11 grandchildren, Chris Davis of Oran, Justin Davis of Convoy, OH, Brandon Davis of Ohio City, OH, Matthew Davis of Amarillo, TX, Tyler Davis of Corpus Christi, TX, Christopher Gehrig, Nathaniel Davis, Kyle Davis, and Adam Davis all of Belle Rive, IL, and Amanda Blankenship and Camden Creek both of Kansas City, MO; nine great grandchildren; and three sisters and two brothers in law, Mildred and Elijah Chamness, Betty Jones, Georgia and Jay Elkins all of Marion, IL.
He was preceded in death by one son, Carl Ray Webb; two brothers, Bobbie Frank Webb, and Bobbie Gene Bennett; and one sister, Gloria Jones.
Visitation will be held on Friday, December 16, 2011, from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, December 17, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. Rev. Mike McKinney, pastor of the Southside Baptist Church in Charleston, will officiate.
The Missouri Military Honor Guard will conduct Military Graveside Rites at the IOOF Cemetery. Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
