DON W. STRACENER, age 68, died Tuesday, July 15, 2014, at his residence in rural Charleston, MO.
He was born February 5, 1946 in Tyronza, AR to the late Charles and Pauline O'Dell Stracener. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #511 in Pleasant Plains, AR, had worked as Deputy Sheriff of Independence County, Arkansas prior to accepting a position as a truck driver for Wal Mart, retiring in 1995. He was a U. S. Army veteran and of Baptist faith.
On December 24, 1993 he married Libby Cox who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two daughters, Shelly (Ron) York and Donna Stracener and her fiance'Anthony Denney all of Pleasant Plains, AR; four step children, Heath (Teresa) Salyer of Charleston, Sean (Christy) Salyer of East Prairie, Olivia Salyer and her fiance' Travis Sterling of Festus, and Billie (Tammy) Salyer of Palmdale, CA; three brothers, Frank (Kim) Stracener of Anaconda, Montana, Bill (Brenda) Stracener of Marked Tree, AR, Danny (Teresa) Stracener of Batesville, AR; three sisters, Joyce (Bob) Walker of Greers Ferry, AR, Mickey Burns of Pleasant Plains, AR, Judy (Dennis) Dulaney of Pangburn, AR; two sisters in law, Brenda Stracener of Pleasant Plains, AR and Mary Ann Stracener of Drasco, AR; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Stracener, one grandchild, one great grandchild, and two brothers, Larry Stracener and Pete Stracener.
Visitation will be held at the McMikle Funeral Home on Saturday, July 19, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until the memorial service hour at 1:00 p.m. Rev. Gerald Penn, pastor of the First Assembly of God Church in Charleston, will officiate.
Missouri Military Honor Guard will provide Military Rites in the chapel following the memorial service.
