Donald Eugene Hamby, Sr., age 70, died Sunday, August 18, 2024, at his home in Charleston.

Born June 11, 1954, at Paducah, KY, to the late Joe Hamby and Modine Edwards, he was raised in Kentucky and moved to Charleston where he began working for Goodin Family Farms at the age of 16 and remained there until his retirement.  He enjoyed fishing and riding around the levee in Mississippi County,

On September 30, 2003, he married Lori Ann Gemeinhardt, who preceded in him death September 4, 2023.

Surviving is his son, Donald Eugene Hamby, Jr., and his wife Carman of Sikeston; his daughter, Heather Tilford and her husband Jace, of LaCenter, KY; brothers, Johnny Crawford, William Crawford and Ray Crawford all of Hickory, KY; his sisters, Rosie Crawford Dismore and Theresa Crawford Gough of Mayfield, KY; also, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Terry Crawford and Jessie Crawford and his sister, Connie Watkins.

Donald will be laid to rest at Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston with his wife Lori and beloved dog, Scudder.

Family and friends may assemble for graveside services at 1:00 p.m., Friday, August 23, 2024, at the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
