Obituary

REV. DONALD RAY HEITMAN, age 86, retired Nazarene minister, died Sunday, May 3, 2020 at his home in Matthews, MO.

Born September 12, 1933, at St. Louis, MO, to the late Clarence Heitman and Thelma Jones Heitman, he served in the United States Navy after high school. In July 1961, he was ordained as a minister of the Gospel by the Church of the Nazarene and went on to serve numerous congregations including: Lodi, MO, Morehouse, MO, Ricker Memorial near Meta, MO, Bradleyville, MO, Vandalia, MO and the Church of the Nazarene at Matthews, MO from where he retired. He had worked in farming, as a substitute teacher and as school bus driver for the New Madrid County School District to supplement his income through the years.

On August 3, 1957, at Redford, MO, he married Carol "Raylene" Barnes, who survives of the home.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Les (Christie) Heitman of Madison, MO; Deryl (Christina) Heitman of Phoenix, AZ, Chester Heitman of Branson, MO and Carol Johnson of Matthews, MO; 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister Dorothy Heitman.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 5, 2020, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Melissa McDowell, pastor of the Eastside Church of the Nazarene of Sikeston, will officiate. There will be no funeral home procession following the funeral.

Interment will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery at Bloomfield under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be: Joshua Heitman, Blake Heuring, Casey Fergus, Anthony Heitman and Anthony Zapata.
