IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Donald Dane
Merideth
December 14, 1948 – November 6, 2019
Donald Dane Merideth, 70, of Charleston, died Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born December 14, 1948, in Glasgow, KY, to the late Robert and Marjorie Lee Hogan Merideth. A 1966 graduate of Park City High School, his early life included work at various factories, as a telephone lineman traveling the country where he met Janis Rae Carter in Cairo, IL. The two were married December 27, 1969, and shortly after, in 1970, he began a 33 year career at Westvaco Paper Mill in Wickliffe, Ky, until his retirement in 2003. He would say the greatest event in his life was giving his heart to the Lord, and waking in His grace and faith ever since. Over the years Don had many hobbies that included fishing and hunting, American Civil War reenacting as a member and often Captain of the 7th and 3rd Kentucky Volunteers (re-enacted), horseback riding, and volunteer work as a member of the 501st Legion, a Star Wars costuming group focused on children's charities. Through all of these endeavors he made friendships that endure to this day, many of which became like family to him.
He is preceded in death his father and mother Robert and Marjorie (Hogan) Merideth, and father and mother-in-law Edwin and Jo Elma (Houston) Carter.
He is survived by his wife Janis (Carter) Merideth; daughter and son-in-law, Dana and Virgil Suitor of Congress, AZ; son and daughter-in-law, Jody Lee and Jennifer Merideth of Benton, MO; grandchildren Natalie, Annabel, and Hudson; sister and brother-in-law, Treva Nell (Merideth) and Eric Childress of Park City,KY; brother and sister-in-law, Robert Wayne and Carol Merideth of Jamestown,KY; uncle and aunt Rondal and Maxine (Hogan) Brooks, as well as many cousins and close friends.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until time for memorial services at 6:00 p.m., Saturday, November 9, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dean Wallace will officiate.
