DONALD FREDRICK WILLIAMS, Age 88, died Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his home in Wyatt.
Born October 21, 1924, at Birds Point, MO, to the late Fred and Lula Hutcheson Williams, he had lived in Mississippi County his entire life and was a graduate of Diehlstadt High School. A farmer and land owner, he was engaged in farming since he was a young man and was proud of the fact that legacy has been carried on for several generations. He served as Mayor of Wyatt for four terms, was a member of the Wyatt Baptist Church, the Charleston Masonic Lodge #407 AF and AM and V.F.W. Post #4294. A Veteran of World War II, he served with the US Army in the Pacific Theatre of Operations and was the recipient of a Purple Heart, Bronze Star medal, and a Combat Infantryman badge.
On February 22, 1943 he married Opal Hess, who survives of the home.
Also surviving are two sons and daughters in law, Dr. Fred and Sandra Williams of Fort Myers, FL and David and Debbie Williams of Charleston; his grandchildren, Ashleigh Williams of Houma, LA; Elliott (Carrie) Williams of Cape Girardeau; Travis (Jennifer) Williams of rural Charleston; Andy (Michelle) Williams of Dallas, TX and Sherri (Eddie) Spraberry of Fort Collins, CO; great grandchildren, Eli Williams and Ashton Williams of Cape Girardeau, Layton Williams and Shelby Buttery of Charleston, Lollie Schwab of Lafayette, LA, J. Hunter Schwab of Houma, LA, Madison Williams and Morgan Williams of Dallas, TX and Blake Spraberry, Austin Spraberry, Andrew Spraberry and Brandon Spraberry all of Fort Collins, CO.
Besides his parents, one brother, Jackie Williams, preceded him in death.
Visitation will be held from 12:00 pm (noon) until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Thursday, August 22, 2013, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Dean Wallace, pastor of the Wyatt Baptist Church, will officiate.
Military graveside rites will be conducted at I.O.O.F. Cemetery by the United States Army and the Missouri Military Honors Program.
Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Elliott Williams, Travis Williams, Andy Williams, Richard Hutcheson, Dabney McMurray, and B.I. Kincaid.
