Obituary

Donna Jean Dirickson-Smith, 61, a life-long resident of the Blodgett & Sikeston area, died Monday, Oct. 15, 2018 at her home in Sikeston.
She was born March 22, 1957 in Sikeston to Wanda (Ford) Dirickson who survives of Blodgett and the late Wilbur Gene Dirickson.   Donna had been employed by DeWitt Nursery and later as a cook for Sikeston Public Schools.  She was first married to the late Riley "Gene" Hampton and from that union were 2 daughters & sons-in-law Nikesha (Chris) Holt of Sikeston and Natasha (Ross) Ganus of Lilbourn; and 1 son, J.J. Morin of Blodgett and 5 grandchildren. Nicholas Whelan, Alexis Ganus, Kylie Senn, Emily Ganus and Kristen Jean Holt.  She later married Frederick Smith on June 5, 2014 at Benton and he survives of the home.  Other survivors include 1 step-son, Frederick Smith, Jr. of Cape Girardeau and 1 step-daughter, Fredericka Fleming of Baltimore, MD and 4 step-grandchildren.  In addition to her father she was preceded in death by 2 brothers, Wilbur Gene Dirickson, Jr. and Ricky Lee Dirickson.  Visitation will be Wednesday, Oct. 17, from 11:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.  Rev. Dwayne Coleman, pastor of Canalou Baptist Church  will officiate and burial will follow at New Morley Cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Willie Graham, Garrett Senn, Roy Lee Surface, Tony Womack, Troy Holland and Willie Harrington.  Online Condolences may be shared with the family at blanchardfuneral.com.  The family would like to thank Crown Hospice and especially her favorite nurse, Ricky Lee Isaacs, for their wonderful caregiving.
