DONALD HATCHEL, age 53, formerly of Charleston, died Wednesday, March 10, 2010, at his residence in Sikeston.

He was born February 11, 1957 in Dexter to Shirley Lee Norman Blackburn who survives in Charleston and the late Lucian E. Black. He moved to Bertrand in 1968 and was a 1975 graduate of Charleston High School. In 1980 he became an over the road truck driver, first employed with Ed Eubanks, and then Prime Inc. Moving to Sikeston in 1994, he was employed with Sikeston Motor Company for 16 years. He was a member of the General Baptist Church in Bernie, and his hobbies included fishing and watching NASCAR races.

He is survived by his former wife, Carla Gail Johnson Gibson, and one son, Matthew Christopher Hatchel both of Blytheville, AR; his step father, Richard Blackburn of Charleston; one brother, James Dean Hatchel of St. Louis; two sisters, Jeannie Marshall of Jackson and Judy Duenne of Charleston; also five nieces, Laurie Bell, Jessica Bradford, Danielle Duenne, Kate Ann Duenne, Victoria Duenne, and one great niece, Maddie Grace Bell.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lucian Black Sr., and his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Norman.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, March 12, 2010, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Graveside Services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. at the Bernie Cemetery with Rev. Larry Kirby, Pastor of the Abundant Grace Church in Bertrand, officiating.

Interment will follow under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Dan Duenne, Glen Marshall, Jason Bell, Terry Shaver, Shane Stewart, and Monty Ayers.
