Obituary

DORA SHELBY BOMAR, age 87, a resident of Marion, OH, formerly of Cape Girardeau, died March 10, 2016, at the Presidential Center Home Health Care in Marion, OH.

On February 27, 1929 Dora was born in Sikeston, Missouri, one of 12 children, to the late Robert and Hallie (Watson) Shelby. She graduated from Diehlstadt High School and worked at the Mississippi County Courthouse in Charleston.

On March 8, 1951 she married Richard Harrison Bomar who preceded her in death on January 22, 2011. They shared 60 years of marriage together and the first 26 years were dedicated to Richard's career in the U.S. Air Force.

Dora traveled with Richard to his assigned stations throughout the world. Dora and Richard settled in Marion, IL in 1973. At this time Dora worked for a Cardiologist in Marion for seven years. Moving to Cape Girardeau in 1989, she was employed with Wal Mart as a People Greeter and retired from that position after 25 years of service. During Dora's life she dedicated herself to taking care of her family.

Surviving members are one daughter and daughter in law, Alice F Bomar and Susan McDaniel both of Marion, OH; one grandson and granddaughter in law, Rick and Becky (Wagganer) Bomar of Cape Girardeau; two great grandchildren, Bethany Jo Bomar, and Ryker H. Bomar all of Cape Girardeau; one brother and sister in law Robert (Bob) and Joan (Peters) Shelby of Memphis TN: two sisters Maxine (Mac) Hill of Sikeston and Lucille (Joy) Sellars Shelby of Encino, CA.

She was preceded in death by one son, Richard Craig Bomar; one great granddaughter, Emma Dean Bomar; four brothers, Donald (Don) Shelby, Kermit Shelby and two infant brothers; four sisters, Hazel Strickland, Freida Kindsey, Verna Schaffer and Jo Whitehead.

A special thank you and appreciation to Susan M. McDaniel. There are not enough word to express our thanks for taking care of Dora for nearly to 2 years. Your generosity, compassion, safekeeping and care for Dora was extraordinarily unselfish.
