Doris Ruth Maxwell Bone, 80, of Charleston, Mo., died Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at her home.
She was born February 11, 1941, in Morehouse, Mo., to Ora Lee Morehead Maxwell and James Loren Maxwell. She graduated from Charleston High School in 1959.
She married Everett Wayne Bone, Jr., on January 28, 1960. They farmed in Mississippi County and raised five daughters, who all stayed in Charleston to raise their families. As her children got older, she took at position with Brink Insurance Company in Charleston where she made many friends over the years.
Doris, known to family and friends as Mimi, was a loving mother and grandmother. Her greatest joy in life was that all five of her daughters and her grandchildren got along and loved one another. On weekends, the family gathered at her home where the fridge was always stocked with snacks, and holidays and camping trips were filled with happiness and laughter. When her grandchildren were in high school, Mimi's home was their afterschool hangout.
A member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, she had worked as a Sunday school teacher and in vacation bible school for a number of years. She also served as a Girl Scout Leader. She was honored as Charleston's Woman of the Year for her many contributions to her community.
She is survived by her daughters, Jana (Randy) Thompson, Lana (Leslie) Collier, Angie (Alan Dale) Duenne, Liz (Darrell) Ray, and Annie Bone; grandchildren, Matthew Thompson, Heather Collier, Rett (Liz) Thompson, Tyler (Jennifer) Collier, Josh (Mackenzie) Thompson, Jessie (Ben) Anderson, Jordan (Evan) Reischman, Morgan (John Robert) Goodin, Taylor (Cameron) Heath, Makayla Thompson, Madison Huffman, Tanner Ray, and Ryleigh Ray; great-grandchildren Kynli Duenne, Leeland Duenne, Jake Thompson, Katie Shaw Collier, Luke Thompson, Everett Collier, Ally Jane Thompson, Everett Wade Anderson, and Hattie Collier; brother Bob (Mary Jane) Maxwell and special friends Judy Smith and Pam Crawford.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and her sisters, Jean Burchfield, Lora Mae Meeks, and Louise Sweet.
Friends may assemble for graveside services at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 7, 2021, at IOOF Cemetery near Charleston. Rev. Gerald Collier will officiate.
Pallbearers are Matthew Thompson, Rett Thompson, Tyler Collier, Josh Thompson, Tanner Ray, and Phillip Warren.
Honorary pallbearers are Heather Collier, Jessie Anderson, Jordan Reischman, Taylor Heath, Morgan Goodin, Makayla Thompson, Madison Huffman and Ryleigh Ray.
