Doris Evelyn Wheatley, age 86, of Anniston, died Friday, April 22, 2022, at Bertrand Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born July 10, 1935, at Anniston, MO, to the late John and Pearl Dodge Combs. Doris was a homemaker and lived in the area her whole life. She attended the First Christian Church in Anniston. Doris loved quilting, fishing and fighting the squirrels for her pecans.

On December 4, 1950, she married Irvin Wheatley, who preceded her in death on October 3, 1995.

She is survived by her son, Dale (Tammy) Wheatley of Jackson, MO; one sister, Helen Garrett of Sweet Home, TX; one granddaughter, Beth Wheatley of Francesville, IN and her partner in crime, who was like a sister, Margie Ahlfield.

Family will receive friends from 11:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, April 24, 2022, at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Martin Lucas will officiate.

Interment will follow at East Prairie Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
