Obituary

Dorothy Anne Goodin Brink, died September 24, 2020, surrounded by her family at her home in Charleston.

She was born in Cairo, IL on May 27, 1937, to the late Sam Cox Goodin and Jane Ellen Mulkey Goodin. In 1959, she married Charles Lowell Brink, Jr., who survives.

Dorothy Anne loved her family. She loved being a wife, a mother and a grandmother. Becoming a great-grandmother was a highlight of her life. She loved Charleston and served her church and community in many capacities. She was a lifetime member of the Charleston United Methodist Church, a member of the United Methodist Women, a Sunday School teacher, a Bible School leader and was known for the many many children's sermons she delivered over the years. Dorothy Anne was chosen as Charleston Lion's Club Woman of the Year in 1975. She was a 50 year member of PEO Chapter CV, a 50 year member of the Jr. Study Club, a founding member of the JJJ's, and a Girl Scout leader. She delivered thousands of Meals on Wheels over the years.

She also had a love for horses. Dorothy Anne has had a horse since she was 4 years old. She was an avid rider until just recently.

She is also survived by her daughter, Sara Jane (Frank) Goodman, son Scott (Lachele) Brink, son in law Jerry Don Naile, jr, six grandchildren; Brink Thomas Naile, Cameron Frank Goodman, Jettie Kate Brink, Edward Charles Goodman, James Aubrey Naile, Jane Ellen Brink and one great-grandson, Owen Charles LeGrand.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Sallyanne Brink Naile.

A private graveside service will be held at I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Rev. J. Robert Webster, pastor of the United Methodist Church of Charleston, will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers are: Brink Thomas Naile, Cameron Frank Goodman, Edward Charles Goodman, James Aubrey Naile, Sam Goodin Austin and David Elgin Austin.
