Dorothy Ruth Brown, age 83, of Haywood City, died Wednesday, November 7, 2024, at Day Break Nursing Cener in Miner, Mo.
Born October 13, 1941, at Philadelphia, Mississippi, to the late Henry Brown and Daisy Campbell Brown, she lived in Michigan a number of years before returning to Sikeston and Oran area. Dorothy was a wonderful cook and owned her own catering business for many years. She was also a caregiver for the elderly and was a longtime member of Greers Chapel Church in Sikeston. She was also a member of the Christ Gospel Singers.
In December 1979, she married Robert L. Brown, who preceded her in death.
Surviving is her special niece, Jane Winfield; nephew of the the home, Jimmy Brown; Godson, Jason Tarvis; her best friend, Joellen Gaddis; nephew and handyman, James Johnson; her beloved dog, Boots; as well as a number of nieces and nephews and their families that she loved dearly.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved cat, Baby; her brothers, Jimmy Brown, Sammy Brown and Henry Brown and her sisters, Sylvia Jamison, Helen Gene Johnson, Delree Jamison and Enoria Woodson.
A Family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
