Dorothy Morgan McDowell, age 92, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at her home in Charleston, Mo.

Born October 2, 1933, at Datto, Arkansas, the youngest of ten children to the late Clarence Everett Morgan and Pearl Elizabeth Fears Morgan, she had lived in Charleston most of her life and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Charleston.

On August 21, 1953, she married Byron Wilson McDowell, who preceded her in death March 1, 2023.

Surviving are her children, David (Carol) McDowell, Debra (James) Conn and Donald (Margaret) McDowell; her grandchildren, Julie (Ryan) Summers, Emily (Mike) Stahlschmidt, Leslie (Scott) Hingle and Caitlin (Zach) Bolden; 11 great grandchildren; also, a number of nieces and nephews and their families and four special caregivers, Cheryl Morgan, Stephanie Parker, Lisa Hall and Lisa Buttry.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Charles Morgan, Murlyn Morgan, Warren Morgan, Floyd Morgan and Robert Morgan and her sisters, Lela Guthrey, Nellie Gage, Mary Bonifield and Vena Daughhetee.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral hour at 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 2, 2026, at the United Methodist Church in Charleston.  Rev. Paullester Walker, pastor, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston, MO, under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.

Pallbearers will be Ryan Summers, Scott Hingle, Mike Stahlschmidt, Zach Bolden, Bob Morgan, Jamie McDowell, Peyton Morgan, Luke Morgan and Stephen Smith.

In lieu of flowers, plants and gift items, the family kindly requests memorials be made to the United Methodist Church of Charleston, P.O. Box 351, Charleston, MO 63834 or to the I.O.O.F. Cemetery Fund, c/o Charlotte Duncan, 500 S. 5th Street, Charleston, MO 63834.
