Obituary

DOROTHY CAROLINE MOODY, age 68, died Sunday, August 4, 2019, at her home in Charleston.

Born March 12, 1951, at Evansville, IN, to the late Arthur Neal and Myrtle Phillips Neal, she grew up in the Evansville area and later moved to Sikeston. She had been employed as legal secretary for Dempster Law Firm and later as a Certified Nurses Aide. She was a member of the First Church of God in East Prairie.

In 1969, she married Joseph Nathaniel Moody, who preceded her in death in 1989.

Surviving is her life companion of over 30 years, Billy Borders, of the home.

Also surviving is her son, Joseph (Tammy) Moody of Sikeston; her stepdaughter, Jennifer (Duke) Presson of East Prairie; granddaughter, Layla Moody of Cape Girardeau; brothers, Charlie Neal, Leon Neal and Smiley Neal; also, a number of nieces and nephews survive.
Besides her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Joe Neal, Pete Neal and George William Neal and her sisters, Mayme Offitt, Mary Woods, Blanche Peterson, Ruby Worthington and Sarah Christiansen.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 7, 2019, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, August 8, 2019 in the McMikle Chapel. Paul Matte, pastor of the First Church of God in East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery at Sikeston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.
