DOROTHY ELIZABETH NELSON, Age 98, died Sunday, September 4, 2011 at her home in East Prairie.

Born December 17, 1912, at Caruthersville, MO to the late Claude Cardell and Bertha Della Perkins Bratton, she had lived in East Prairie most of her life where she was a member of the Gospel Assembly Church.

She was first married to Alfred Lumsden who preceded her in death. On January 16, 1943, she then married Raymond Wood Nelson, who preceded her in death on June 15, 1979.

Surviving are: one daughter: Imogene Gore of East Prairie; one sister, Claudia Jones of Troupe, TX; 9 grandchildren, Judy Griggs of Kingsport, TN; Glenda Wilburn, Ronnie Gore, Alfred Gore, Dottie Tinnin, Tammie Gore all of East Prairie; Pat Randall and Joe Cissell of Charleston and Mark Cissell of Chandler, AZ; 20 great grandchildren, 33 great great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were: one daughter, Geraldine "Miss Jeri" Haley; one brother, Charlie Bratton; one sister, Edna Bomar and three grandsons, Kenny Gore, Danny Gore and Donnie Cissell.

Vistation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Larry Smith of East Prairie, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Dogwood Cemetery near East Prairie under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Phillip Cissell, Paul Patrick, Mike Bell, Lee Griggs, Bobby Sorenson and Chester Hankins.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Riley Patrick, Luke Patrick, Dylan Hankins, Jeremiah Hecht II, Liam Linley, Gage Linley, Lonnie Kennedy, Michael Kennedy and Ricky Sorenson.
