DOROTHY LOUISE O'NEAL, age 95, a resident of Morton Gap, KY formerly of Charleston, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Ridgewood Terrace Nursing Home at Madisonville, KY.

She was born January 14, 1922 in Hickman, KY to John William and Hester I. Davidson Evans who preceded her in death. Following her 1945 graduation from St. Mary's Hospital Registered Nurse program, she worked with Doctor's Bondurant, Comer and Yarbrough in Cairo, IL for several years. In 1952 she graduated from Mercy College Department of Anesthesiology in Detroit, MI and moved to Charleston where she worked Anesthesiologist at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston until 1975. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church and the Legion of Mary in Charleston. In 2004 she moved to Mortons Gap, KY and attended the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Earlington, KY. Her professional and civic involvements included membership in the American Association of Nurse Aesthesis, Missouri Organization of Nurse Aesthesis, and the Eagles Club in Sikeston.


On June 2, 1946 she married Joseph O'Neal who preceded her on death on December 22, 1991.

She is survived by one sister, Carolyn Faulk of Mortons Gap, KY; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Evans and Billy Evans; and three sisters, Doris Beauchamp, Rozell Flynn, and Evelyn House.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2017, at St. Henry Catholic Church in Charleston from 10:00 until 10:45 am where the Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am. Her nephew, Father Patrick O'Neal, will serve as celebrant.

Interment will follow in the Calvary Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Terry Rowe, Chris Dugan, Andy Bryant, Mike Bryant, Darren Vowels and Charles Moxley.
