Obituary

DOROTHY LUCILLE STEWART, age 81, a resident of Charleston died at 3:00 a.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at the East Prairie Nursing Center.

She was born on January 31, 1929 in Scott County to the late William Clarence and Flora Irene Smith Presson. She had lived her entire life in Scott and Mississippi Counties and was a member of the New Bethel Baptist Church. She was employed with the Charleston R-1 School District in the Charleston High School cafeteria until her retirement. A former member of the Charleston VFW Auxiliary, she was a wonderful cook, cake decorator, and enjoyed working in her rose garden.

On March 8, 1946 she married Lonnie Everett Stewart who preceded her in death in 1986.
Surviving are three sons and two daughters in law, William L. and Robin Stewart of Washington, David W. Stewart of Charleston, and Robert A. and Teressa Stewart of Jonesboro, AR; two daughters and sons in law, Carol and Robert Hart of Imperial and Shirley and Bill Luber of Memphis, TN; two brothers and sisters in law, Danny and Kitty Presson, Harold and Peggy Presson all of Charleston; one sister, Betty Haley of Benton; eleven grandchildren, Scott Hart, Susan McCann, Angela Rhea, Johnathan Luber, Patrick Stewart, Michael Stewart, Ashley Stewart, Andrew Stewart, Elissa Baker, Carrie Jackson, and Lonnie Stewart III; and14 great grandchildren, Tyler, Devon, and Emily Hart, Samantha, Cody, and Rylee McCann, Dylan and Grace Rhea, Olivia Hempel, Katie, Caroline, and Wesley Jackson, Phillip Stewart, and Kyra Rainwater.

She was preceded in death by one son and daughter in law, Lonnie E. and Phyllis Dockins Stewart Jr.; one granddaughter Nicole Stewart; one brother, Howard Presson; and two sisters, Mabel Graban and Helen Martin.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday with Rev. Ted Wimberley, Pastor of the New Bethel Baptist Church, officiating.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Scott Hart, Johnathan Luber, Patrick Stewart, Michael Stewart, Andrew Stewart, and Lonnie Stewart III.
