DOROTHY HOWLETT RENAUD, age 90, a resident of the Texas Bend Community in Mississippi County, died Monday, March 25, 2019, at the Delta South Nursing Center in Sikeston.
She was born September 22, 1928, in St. Louis, to John Howard and Grace Carson Howlett. She lived in St. Louis prior to her family settling in Mississippi County where she attended school and was a 1947 graduate of Charleston High School. She first was employed at the Boston Store in Charleston which was owned and operated by Julius Wigdor. She later worked at the Dime Store before accepting a position at age 16 with Southwestern Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of St. Henry Catholic Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Charleston Ladies Golf Association and the Mississippi County Genealogical Society. Her two passions in life were genealogy and golf.
On May 12, 1948 she married Henry Louis Renaud who preceded her in death on February 3, 1988.
Surviving are three children, Mike (Dot) Renaud of Charleston, Becky (Rik) LaPlant of Sikeston, and Sara (Robert) Boyer of Festus, one brother, Gene Howlett of Southaven, MS; 8 grandchildren, Jason (Krissy) Renaud, Jeff Renaud, Elizabeth (Kyle) Kemp, Emily LaPlant, Michael LaPlant, Ashlynn (Dave) Williams, Danielle (Eli) Hoeckele, and Michael Boyer; and 8 great grandchildren with one great grandchild on the way.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Patricia Ellen Layton and Byrd Lee Howlett Abbott.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2019 at the McMikle Funeral Home from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. at St. Henry Catholic Church with Father David Dohogne, Pastor, and Monsignor Richard Rolwing of Cape Girardeau, serving as Celebrants.
Interment will follow IOOF Cemetery under the direction of McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Jason Renaud, Jeff Renaud, Michael LaPlant, Michael Boyer, Kyle Kemp, Dave Williams, and Eli Hoeckele.
