DOROTHY LOUISE SMITH, age 81, a former resident of Cord, Arkansas, died Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the Bertrand Nursing Center.

She was born December 28, 1935 in Independence County, AR to Kenneth and Irene Hatler Reeves. Following her high school graduation in 1954, she lived in San Diego, CA and Peoria, IL before returning to Dowdy, AR in 1965 where she was lifetime member of the Philadelphia Missionary Baptist Church. Prior to moving to Bertrand Nursing Center in 2010, she spent a great deal of her time with her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and crafting.

On August 12, 1954 she married Anthony Lee Smith who survives of Cord, Arkansas.

Surviving are one daughter, Sandra Lea (John) Hall of Bertrand; three grandchildren, Jamie (Gary) Scott of Bertrand, Ashley (Mike) Adams of Sikeston, and Jonathan (Amanda) Hall of East Prairie; six great grandchildren, Taylor Scott of East Prairie, Garrison and Strykar Scott both of Bertrand, Madison and Hunter Hall of East Prairie, and Landry Johnson of Sikeston; also one brother in law, Richard Schoenberger of Sun City, AZ.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Lora Schoenberger.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 20, 2017 from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Qualls Funeral Home in Batesville, AR where funeral services will be conducted at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Rev. Jackie Pickett of Poughkeepsie, AR and Rev. Tracy Grissom of Batesville, AR will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery in Lawrence County, AR.

Pallbearers will be Royce Bradley, Randy Bradley, Tanner Bradley, Howard Weaver, Todd Weaver, and Justin Melton.
