DOROTHY LOU BYRD THOMPSON, Age 87, a resident of Charleston, Mo., died Sunday, March 21, 2010 at the Barnes Hospital in St. Louis.
Born December 13, 1922 at St. Louis, Mo., to the late William Jennings "Bryan" and Lela Dixon Byrd, she had lived in Charleston most of her life where she had been employed with Basler Electric Company and then worked at the Charleston Manor as a CNA a number of years until her retirement.
She was married to Leonard E. Thompson who preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were: an infant son, Lonnie Earl Thompson; three brothers, Sonny Byrd, Bill Byrd and Andrew Byrd and two sisters, Sally Smith and Jo Ann Byrd.
Surviving are: four daughters and three sons in law, Darlene Matthews of Marble Hill, MO; Linda and Bill Bailey of Swartz Creek, MI; Shirley and Roy Moore of East Prairie and Sharon and Darrell Gustafson of Hopkinsville, KY; eight grandchildren, David Bailey, Tony Gemeinhardt, Dawn Bailey Black, Rhonda Chandler Raithel, Greg Bailey, Neal Mabry, Brooke Gustafson and Jessica Moore; 12 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, March 23, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston where funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2010. Rev. Jack Hargraves, pastor of Victory Chapel in Charleston, will officiate. A Eulogy will be offered by her daughter, Darlene Matthews.
Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be: Darrell Gustafson, Roy Moore, Richard Raithel, Travis Raithel, Tristan Raithel and Michael Howard Meeks.
