Dorothy Lee Wade, age 67, a resident of rural Charleston was called home by our Lord Jesus Christ at 10:30 a.m., Monday September 5, 2011 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.
Dorothy was born October 25,1943, to the late Thomas Lee, and Dorothy Inez Layne. One brother Jimmy Randolph Layne preceded her in death.
On May 26, 1961 she wed Jesse Edward "Eddie" Wade who also preceded her in death in October 2008.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas "Tom" and Daronda Wade; two daughters and one son-in-law, Jona Lee Wade, and Wende and Stephen Gorostiza all of rural Charleston; One sister and one brother-in-law, Vicki Jane and David Howard of Cape Girardeau; One grandson and one granddaughter-in-law, Brandon and Jessica Wade of Sikeston; four granddaughters, Shana, Lee-Ellen, Madison, & Stevie Lee; one sister-in-law, Janet Ruth Richardson of Navarri, FL.
Dorothy worked several years as a secretary for Marshall Farms, and Simmons Equipment. She also owned and operated The Movie Store in downtown Charleston along with her own crafts buisiness called Grandma's House on South Main St. in Charleston. She later went to work as an office manager at Town-n-Country where she was employed until her retirement in 2008. She was of the Baptist Belief.
The funeral will be held at McMikle Funeral Home on Wed. Sept. 7th 2011, with visitation beginning at 12:30 p.m. and the funeral service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Steven Vestor of Old Bethel Baptist Church in Sikeston will be officiating.
Pallbearers will be: Terry "Bubba" Shoffner, Scotty Sutton, Shaun Woods, Kevin Stevenson, Henry "Butch" Holyfield and Troy Hart. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Kemp Slaten, David Kennedy, Glen Beemer, and David Howard.
