Obituary

DOYLE E. DENBOW, age 78, died Monday, December 9, 2013 at his home in Dexter, Mo., after a strong battle with cancer.

Doyle was born on June 29, 1935, in Matthews, Missouri, to the late Leroy and Stella (Yount) Denbow. Doyle wed Margaret Bone of Charleston, Missouri on June 11, 1955. They were married for 43 years until her passing on November 11, 1998. He later married Sandra Twitty, of Kansas City, Mo., on June 5, 1999.

Doyle worked across the state of Missouri as an educator for 35 years as a guidance counselor, boys and girls basketball coach, elementary and high school principal, while serving the last 20 years before retirement as a school superintendent. He touched many lives and made numerous friends along the way. "Coach" still kept in contact with former players, some from as long ago as his coaching days in Parma over 50 years ago.

Doyle Denbow is survived by his wife of 14 years, Sandra Denbow, and children Jim Denbow of Thayer, Mo., Steve Denbow and wife Lisa of Licking, Mo., Rita Messbarger and husband Ed of Laguna Vista, Tx., Mark Denbow and wife Sally of St. Clair, Mo., Christy Thomasson and husband James, of Boston, Mass., step-children Carla Kelley and husband Colen of Sikeston, and Kirk Burkhead of Cameron, Missouri, 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, 4 step-grandchildren, sister, Glenda Kelley of Sikeston, Mo., several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, P.C. Denbow and Raymond Denbow.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 13, 2013 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. His son, Jim Denbow, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be: Blake Kelley, Dubby Kelley, Jeff Kelley, Colin Kelley, Greg Kelley, Mike Denbow, Bart Denbow, Ben Denbow and Jim Stinnett.
