He was born January 30, 1940, at Wolf Island, MO, to the late Con Childers and Esta Tripp Childers.  Earl had lived in East Prairie his entire life and was a retired truck driver.

On February 6, 1965, he married Linda Jane Kirby who survives of the home.

Also surviving are his sons, Greg (Connie) Childers of Seagrove, NC and James Childers and Cody (Amber) Childers all of East Prairie; his daughters, Janie Jones of East Prairie; Marti (John) Polinski of Gage, KY; Robin Childers-Brooks of Rhinelander, WI and Susan (Darren) Haney of East Prairie; 18 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Britney Polinski;  brothers, Eddie Childers and Robert Childers and his sisters, Luella Childers, Imogene Mayabb, Annie Davis and Dorothy Brown.

Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m., Friday, July 30, 2021 , at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston.  Graveside services will follow at 3:00 p.m. at the Dogwood Cemetery.  Rev. David Dowdy will officiate.

Interment will follow under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.

Pallbearers will be his grandsons.
