Earnest Lee Jones, Sr., age 72, of Ypsilanti, MI, died Sunday, October 15, 2023, at the St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, MO.

Earnest Lee was born January 15, 1951, in Water Valley, MS, to the late Robert T. Jones and Q.B. Fondren Jones. He was known to his loving family in his younger years as "Knee", because everyone knew that if he couldn't be found, it was time to start checking to see whose lap he had landed on.

Earnest graduated from Parma High School, Parma, MO, and went on to serve in the United States Air Force for six years.  He later went to work at General Motors and retired after 34 years of being a dedicated employee.  He was a loving father, grandfather, uncle, cousin, and friend, who enjoyed sipping a cold one, snacking on Church's Chicken with his siblings and traveling with his friends.  He didn't mind an occasional trip to the flea market either.

He leaves to cherish his memories three brothers and six sisters, Robert T. Jones, Jr., Frenchia Dunlap, Arthrue (Betty) Jones, JoAnn (Arthur) Bell, Willie Jones, Katie Sturdivant, Ethel Duckworth, Rosie Johnson and Patricia Ann (Mark) Bobo; his daughter, Lynnette E. (Tiny) McGuire; his son, Earnest L. Jones, Jr.; four grandchildren, Markell (Brandiace) McGuire, Dezmin English, LaShale' English, and Kendrick Jones; four great grandchildren, Kori-London Poole, Kharter McGuire, Lennox McGuire, and Anari English; one step daughter, Skatina Hughes; five step grandchildren; nine step great grandchildren; his special friend, Amanda Williams and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A visitation and memorial gathering will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., Friday, October 27, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.
