Earnest Odell "Poppy" Lacy, 79, died at 8:30 am Friday, May 10, 2013 at his home in Morehouse.
He was born Aug. 28, 1933 in Lyon County, Kentucky to the late Elwood and Earnestine (Rogers) Lacy.
He was a member of First Baptist Church of Morehouse and had worked as a custodian at Fellowship Baptist Church in Sikeston.
On June 30, 1956 he was married to Mary Ellen Ray in Morehouse and she survives of the home. Also surviving are 1 son & daughter-in-law, Mike & Barbara Lacy of Morehouse; 1 daughter & son-in-law, Patti & Mike Tackett of Sikeston; 3 granddaughters & their husbands, Belinda & Sean Henson of Morehouse, Jessi & Cory Fincher of Sikeston, and Maura & Gaige Russell of Fort Riley, KS.; 1 grandson, Ryan Tackett of Sikeston and 1 great-grandson, Chase Henson of Morehouse. 3 Brothers, Ed & Mable Lacy of Ackerman, MS, Phil & Edwina Lacy of Benton and Glen & Sharon Lacy of Advance. 2 sisters Pam & Vurbon Waters of Trinity, AL and Marta & Charlie Hargrave of Jackson. Many loving nieces & nephews also survive.
Besides his parents he was also preceded in death by his second mother, Frieda (Ingram) Lacy and 2 infant brothers.
Visitation will be at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 5 til 8 pm Saturday. Funeral Services will be at 2:00 pm Sunday May 12 at Blanchard Funeral Chapel with Rev. J.D. McClard, pastor of The Country Church of Sikeston offic iating. Burial will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Allen Brown, Jared Lacy, Sam Lacy, Matt Lacy, Clint Lacy and Glenn Lacy.
