EDITH VIRGINIA BRITT FORREST, Age 86, formerly of Charleston, Mo., died Thursday, April 29, 2010 at Delmar Gardens on the Green Nursing Center in Chesterfield, MO.

Born March 21, 1924 at Charleston, Missouri, to the late Richard Paul and Nora Elizabeth Campbell Britt, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life where she attended the Victory Baptist Church in East Prairie and had taught Sunday School throughout her life in various area churches. She had a particular love for embroidery, reading and collecting frogs.

On January 19, 1946, she married Melvin Horace Forrest who preceded her in death on February 18, 1998.

Surviving is: one son, Melvin Douglas Forrest of Arnold, Mo; three daughters, Wanda Lou Brown of St. Louis, Mo.; Deloris Jean Cox of Belleville, Ill., and Carolyn Ann Findley of St. Louis, Mo.; five grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Monday, May 3, 2010 at the McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston. Rev. Steve Johnson of East Prairie, Mo., will officiate.

Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery near Charleston under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston.
