Edith Lough

Nora Edith Lough, age 97, of rural Bertrand, died Thursday, March 28, 2024, at Memory Lane of Dexter Skilled Nursing.

Born January 12, 1927, at Arlington, KY, to the late William Lindsey and Alma Woodward Lindsey Elliott, she had lived in Mississippi County most of her life.  For many years she was a beautician and later was part owner and operator of the R.S.P. Dress Shop in downtown Charleston.  She was an avid bowler and loved playing her piano and organ for her own enjoyment.   She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sikeston.

On April 24, 1954, she married George William Lough, who preceded her in death on August 7, 2023.

Surviving is her daughter, Jane Lough Wakeman; grandchildren, Justin (Jess) Hubbert; Vivian Lynn (Vernon) Johnson; Amber Lough and Holly Barenbaum; five great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, William Lindsey "Billy" Lough; her sisters, Anna Sue Haines and Dorothy Nell Morris; her brother, Ed Lindsey and her granddaughter, Nicole Lough.

A celebration of life will be held at later date.

McMikle Funeral Home of Charleston is in charge of arrangements.
