Edsel Wylie, age 93 of Sikeston, MO left this life on Thursday, October 5, 2023 at Unity Hospital in Searcy, AR surrounded by his family.
He is survived by his children, Karen Tillman of Searcy, AR, Sharon (Paul) Collom of Searcy, AR, and Terry Figley (Allen) of Searcy, AR; grandchildren: Addie (Ben) Kennon, Ben Collom (Andrea), Jared Tillman (Whitney), Amanda Henard, Allison Tillman, Clay Figley and 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Mary Simonds (George) and one brother, Bob Wylie (Judy). Preceding him in death was his wife, Doris of 67 years (the one true love of his life), his sister Evlyn Kesler, and his parents Sarah and J.A. Wylie.
Anyone who knew Edsel was touched by his sincere love for others. He was truly a faithful servant of the Lord. His love for the Lord and others was seen as he visited many in the hospital, nursing homes, and private residences. He loved his family and was devoted to his Shady Acres Church of Christ family.
Born in Hamilton, Alabama, Edsel Wylie moved with his family to the Kewanee, MO area at the age of 6. He met Doris their junior year in high school and were married December 11, 1948. He spent most of his adult life farming in the area. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, hunting and fishing, and especially loved traveling with his wife and friends to many places in the U.S. and Canada.
The celebration of life will be October 14, 2023, at Shady Acres Church of Christ on Ables Road in Sikeston, Mo.
Visitation will be from 12:00-2:00 p.m. and the service will begin at 2:00 p.m.
Graveside service will immediately follow at Garden of Memories Cemetery in Sikeston.
McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston is in charge of arrangements.
