Edward Carol Hartlein, 76, a resident of the Matthews & Canalou area most of his life, died Monday, June 6, 2016 at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston. He was born January 27, 1940 in Cape Girardeau to the late Nolan and Grace (Stone) Hartlein. He had been an Ag mechanic and retired from Nelson Tractor in 2005 and was a member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Matthews. On March 31, 1961 he was married to Marlene L. Taber in Canalou and she survives of the home. Also surviving are 3 sons, Jeffrey (Betty) Hartlein, Brian (Tina) Hartlein, and Keith (Kari) Hartlein all of Sikeston and 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by 1 brother and 1 sister. Visitation will be held at Blanchard Funeral Chapel from 11:00 am until time for services at 1:00 pm Wednesday, June 8, with Rev. Chris Polk, pastor of First Missionary Baptist Church of Matthews officiating. Burial will follow at Matthews City Cemetery.
