Obituary

Edwina Farris Washburn, age 95, died Saturday, July 15, 2023, at her home near Sikeston.

Born September 7, 1927, at Caraway, Arkansas, to the late Ivy Earnest Farris and Dovie Melvina Furlong Farris, she had lived in Sikeston a number of years and worked as a nurse assistant for 25 years until her retirement.  Family was first and foremost to Edwina, but she loved fishing, crafting and sewing.

On October 15, 1958, she married James Ray Washburn, who preceded her in death on June 10, 1996.

Surviving is her son, James Ray Washburn, Jr. of Sikeston; her daughter, Dianne Johnson of Sikeston; her sister, Patsie Parks of Morley; her grandson, Travis Hasty; granddaughter, Shelly Hasty; great grandchildren, Britney, Taylor, Mallory and Ricky; great great grandchildren, Aidan, Eli, Rodrigo and Maverick; also, a number of nieces, nephews and other relatives.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Paula Sue Washburn; her brothers, Loyal David Farris, Frank Farris, Robert Farris; her sisters, Crystal Champion, Opal Rash, Pauline Hand and Rose White.

Visitation will be from noon until the funeral hour at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at the McMikle Funeral Home in Sikeston.  Keith Olbricht, minister at Shady Acres Church of Christ in Sikeston, will officiate.

Interment will follow in the Garden of Memories Cemetery under the direction of the McMikle Funeral Home of Sikeston.

Pallbearers will be Travis Hasty, David Hasty, Glen Parks, Glen Marks, Ray Crane and Rodrigo Garcia.
